FIRE Combustible. Many reactions may cause fire or explosion.
NO open flames. NO contact with combustible substances.
Powder, water spray, foam, carbon dioxide.
EXPLOSION Finely dispersed particles form explosive mixtures in air.
Prevent deposition of dust; closed system, dust explosion-proof electrical equipment and lighting.
In case of fire: keep drums, etc., cool by spraying with water. Combat fire from a sheltered position.
EXPOSURE
PREVENT DISPERSION OF DUST!

  • INHALATION
    		• Blue lips or finger nails. Blue skin. Dizziness. Headache. Laboured breathing.
    		Local exhaust or breathing protection.
    		Fresh air, rest. Artificial respiration if indicated. Refer for medical attention.
  • SKIN
    		• MAY BE ABSORBED! Blue lips or fingernails. Blue skin (further see Inhalation).
    		Protective gloves. Protective clothing.
    		Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse skin with plenty of water or shower. Refer for medical attention.
  • EYES

    		• Face shield or eye protection in combination with breathing protection.
    		First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
  • INGESTION
    		• (further see Inhalation).
    		Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.
    		Induce vomiting (ONLY IN CONSCIOUS PERSONS!). Refer for medical attention.
    SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
    Sweep spilled substance into covered containers. Carefully collect remainder. Sweep gently to avoid raising dust (extra personal protection: P3 filter respirator for toxic particles).
    		Separated from combustible and reducing substances, food and feedstuffs.
    		Do not transport with food and feedstuffs.

     ORANGE-YELLOW CRYSTALS , WITH CHARACTERISTIC ODOUR.

    PHYSICAL DANGERS:
     Dust explosion possible if in powder or granular form, mixed with air.

    CHEMICAL DANGERS:
     On combustion, forms toxic fumes of nitrogen oxides. The substance is a strong oxidant and reacts with combustible and reducing materials. Reacts with organic materials in presence of moisture causing fire hazard.

     TLV not established.
    PDK: 0.5 mg/m3 P (USSR 1988).

    		ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
     The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its vapour and through the skin.

    INHALATION RISK:

    EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
     The substance may cause effects on the blood: methemoglobinemia , resulting in cyanosis and kidney impairment. The effects may be delayed.

    EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
     The substance may have effects on the blood , resulting in the forming of methaemoglobin (see Short-Term Exposure.)
